Hi. Our reincarnation will be called 3DC. It will stand for 3lue Diamond Clan (still pronounced Blue Diamond Clan). We will have a banner with the full title, and in that banner we will have a logo. This logo will need to look great in any size in any place on the website. Please pitch your ideas. Using Paint is easy. Or you can just word your ideas in a post. I'll start us off. Click on the image for a larger version.  ^^Keep in mind these are sketches that I threw together quickly. I think 2nd from the right on the top row looks the best of those logos, but I'm not too keen on any of them. I think we need something sleeker looking. Something with more detailed shading comes to mind at first since I don't think 3d modeling would turn out too well even if we got Qc to do it. The first crystal-ish things I thought of were: The crystal link is enveloped in as he falls down from nowhere into the Sages area in OoT, and The Nayru's Love crystal from OoT If those 2 objects could somehow be obtained as standalone models, one could possibly work the 3DC letters in and come up with a competent logo. If this would be too intricate for a main logo, we could possibly work a screenshot from the game (preferably of the former instance I mentioned) with 3DC/3lue Diamond Clan thrown in as a kind of viral advertisement, possibly to be used for recruiting and possibly just to be used somewhere on the portal. I'm thinking if we could find a lot of instances of "blue diamonds" from familiar settings (like those I mentioned in OoT) we could create a series of pictures with the clan name stamped on them, set off a spot on the portal for them, and fill that spot with a random picture from the series when the page loads. The familiarity of these blue diamonds (I'm sure we could find some from old NES games, some from SNES games, maybe some from 360/PS3 games too) could work as a nice little feature. Just an idea, and let me know if that was unclear at all, because I don't think I explained it very well. |

I quite like Spas' idea -- just take a whole bunch of screenshots of games that include bluish crystals and stamp the URL + logo on them, maybe a tagline. We'd need two dozen or more. Then spread them out over the internet. Facebook. Youtube. When we run out of games we do it on images of Blue Diamond Peanuts and, well, anything that closely relates to blue diamonds. A picture of a building in which the perspective makes the windows look diamond-shape and they're blue from the reflection of the sky; +200 likey points if you can photoshop these onto a world-famous building. Stamp that too. Viral marketing campaigns rule. Oh and as for the logo, I've had a revelation, and I've made one that can't be beat. I'll show you guys very very soon. For now I sleep. |

I like pretty much everything on the bottom row, although the middle one could be a bit smaller and less overwhelming. But I'm just going into details a bit too early XP Maybe we could have something like this:  Or with the name:  I think "The First, The 3est" would work as a promo slogan. X3 |

I would be ready to get back in clans just because of that logo. Make up a slogan, some more propaganda and you're on the road to victory. I'm still a bit reluctant of the whole "clan" thing, though. |

Nix, that is totally f***ing epic. I'm guessing maybe like a drop shadow off to the right, since it looks a bit 3D:  (I'm gonna explain this as if to a noob, don't hurt me if it sounds stupid) All areas that are on the same plane are labeled with the same letter. A is on top, followed by (going down/deep/back/etc.) B, D, C (order totally coincidental), and G at the bottom. E and F are the sides of the boxes, the vertical drops connecting A1/A2 and C1 on the left and C2/C3 and G on the right. I'd suggest shadows in the following places: - Coming off F1 and E2 onto C1 - From B1 onto D - From B2 onto C2 - From B3 onto C3 - From E3 and F3 onto G I also added in the new sections of E4 and F4 to make things a bit more even. Maybe D should be a bit lighter in color since it's higher than C? Just my random ideas. Let me know what you think. EDIT: Oh wait, adding E4 and F4 was stupid. Maybe make them darker? Thanks for the praise. Also, thanks for putting in some considerable effort into explaining your shadowing ideas. I'll see how that works now. I won't be adding E4 and F4, because they take away from the letter C. And I think I see the whole thing a little differently than you. I see it as sticking out/forward on the 2 B blocks and the C block, and the D squares are flat and back/in. I mean, on your image, replace the G platform with A height, and remove E4 and F4. That's how I see it and that's how I mean for it to be seen :/ |

I noticed that about E4 and F4, see my edit right before you posted lol, but yeah, take them out. I originally had G at A, but it looked a bit odd, and I thought it would be better if the entire thing was generally going further back as you go to the right. For that last bit, I assume you mixed up some of the letters? There's only 1 D block and the B triangle lol I guess D could be at the same level as C if that's what you're trying to say. Right, now it makes sense. XP Although I still think it would look better if the 3DC were the ones in front and the darker blue ones (aside from A) were behind, but it's your call, as long as it works. Two things: It's too hard to read for anyone who's just glancing at the place and the other thing is that it doesn't represent 3DC--at least not visibly. A logo is supposed to be a visual representation of the whatever it's for and I have no idea what the logo is representing outside of an abstract experiment of geometrical letters. |

That would work, just double the size of G/A3 and the C (E3/F3) would be the same as the other letters. Also, maybe lighten the borders between the individual parts of the 3 and C? That way it might show the connection better and make it appear less abstract and more like what it's supposed to. |

Does that really matter? The Pepsi Cola logo shows no indication that it's about soda but it works for them. The banner (if we get a new one) will probably show 3DS stuff in it anyway. Edited by Bacon, Jun 4 2010, 12:27 AM.
